Goodwill Games: Montague & Hamilton Exchange

The first Goodwill Games were played in 1969 in Montague. It takes place each year during the visiting team’s March break. It all started when Ernie McKenna, a transplant from PEI who was coaching a Mountain hockey team, talked to his sister, Mary Henneberry, in Montague, and arranged an exhibition in the small island town.

Since that time - the two associations have alternated visits for a week of fun - with the hockey becoming secondary to the experience of the games itself. Players billet with host families, and experience what the host communities have to offer.

In March of 2024, it is Montague's turn to travel to Hamilton. For male and female players in the Three Rivers area interested in playing - please contact organizer Mike Annear by email.
